ABSTRACT DEL KEBOOK
At 22 years old, on November 11 2023, just days before graduating in biomedical engineering, Giulia Cecchettin was killed by her ex-boyfriend Filippo Turetta because she did not want to get back together with him. Giulia was stabbed 75 times in the head and neck and died from blood loss. These were her father’s words at her funeral: “Giulia was a hoplite, a young fighter, like the ancient Greek soldiers, steadfast in moments of difficulty. Her indomitable spirit inspired us all.” Filippo Turetta was sentenced to life imprisonment for the femicide of Giulia Cecchettin. The assault and stabbing lasted a total of about 20 minutes, during which it might have been able to perceive the imminence of death. I wrote this poem to keep the memory of this femicide alive, trying to relive those moments before death.
