ABSTRACT DEL KEBOOK
The city of Gorizia, with its picturesque setting, boasts a history that is both illustrious and obscure. The protagonist, Charles, draws inspiration for his historical novel from the history of Gorizia. This marks the inception of an ambitious undertaking. However, his writing remains inconclusive, and his characters meet a cruel end before the author can complete each chapter. However, Charles' pessimistic outlook and inclination to concentrate on the negative not only distort his own life but also have a detrimental impact on those around him. He inhabits a constructed reality that shapes his perceptions, rendering his fellow citizens, prisoners, and victims of his nightmares and contempt inescapable. In his writing, Charles shifts abruptly from one negative topic to another, creating a narrative that reflects his inner struggles and distorted perception of reality. The decaying city provides an ideal backdrop for exploring the shadows of its history and the human psyche.
