There was a time when a woman ruled a population of women. The kingdom of the Amazons was vast, some say stretched from the Caucasus to Asia Minor to Egypt to Italy. But in truth, they reigned in all places where they arrived, being invincible. In this sense it can be said that they reigned all over the world. They said to descend from the divine couple: the union of Apollo, the Sun, with Artemis, the virgin Moon, who they worshiped as the Great Goddess of love and war and to whom many other names were given: Shaushga, Kubaba, Hebe, Areia, Arinna, Mirina, Isthar, Isis ... Aphrodite. Who with Ares conceived Harmony. It was her who sought for in the unceasing journey, their peace, and they fought for it, so that one day they would not fight anymore. It was her who illuminated them by pointing to the Way, whether it was a war, a cruel sacrifice, a renunciation, or an act of love. She revealed to them the mystery of birth and vegetation so that they did not vanish, precious stones and metals with which to secure power. And they were the first to possess the wind: no other people knew how to tame and mount the horse. But they had to repay her: to remain united with love, to exert force, to travel, and to fight if necessary to spread their worship and teachings. Once a year, at the beginning of spring, they met on the top of a mountain of the Caucasus with close and allied people, composed only of men: the Garganes.
